The Sidra Project

Clouds Over Sidra is the story of a 12 year-old girl who has lived in Jordan’s Za’atari Refugee Camp since the summer of 2013. The film follows Sidra to her school, her temporary bedroom, and even to a girls-only soccer match.

Clouds Over Sidra is the first-ever film shot in virtual reality for the United Nations. The film uses the virtual reality medium to generate greater empathy and new perspectives on people living in conditions of great vulnerability — and to inspire the message of hope among not only the millions displaced, but also those motivated to act.  For more information about the Sidra project, please click here.

This nine-minute film will be screened multiple times beginning at 11 am, with the last screening scheduled for 1:30 pm. Spots for these screenings can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by registering below.  Walk-ins on the day of the event will be accommodated on a first come first servce basis, space permitting.  Attendees will need to be over the age of 13 to watch the film.

Following the screening, you are encouraged to visit the Aga Khan Museum’s Syria: A Living History exhibition to continue the conversation about home, belonging, and the shared experiences of refugees across the world. The Aga Khan Museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, December 10.

Note: Photographs and video taken at this public event will be used by the Aga Khan Council for Canada and partner organization print and online publications. Members of the media may also attend this event.
