Born in London England, Azim has been a musician his entire life. He owns Trend Music Education as well as the Ottawa Flamenco Guitar Academy, where he has been the academic and music director for over 25 years. Azim, a multi-instrumentalist, won an international award grant for flamenco guitar from the Contemporary Flamenco Guitar Institute in Málaga (Spain). As well as performing flamenco, he also founded and performs contemporary music in the world class award winning group Comfortably Numb where he is the lead singer and guitarist. He also has critically acclaimed solo albums to his credit with ‘The AK Project’. Azim has toured extensively throughout the world and has been a musical director, show director, and tour manager for many high level performances in-studio and on-stage, including the all-Ismaili performance of RIHLA which toured throughout Canada. He has also made guest appearances on countless musical works throughout the world.

Azim had the immense privilege of being one of the performers of the devotional group that presented music at the Homage Ceremony for Mawlana Hazar Imam for the commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee at Aiglemont, France.

Music listening, study, and performing have always provided a space for reflection and inner search for Azim in all genres of music, but especially through devotional pieces. Connecting with other musicians worldwide has also deepened his sense of diversity and collaboration through artistic expression and spirituality. The ability to be able to play an instrument and to be able to convey ideas are truly a gift and one that isn't taken lightly by him. Azim has been able to connect spiritually through expression, and to hold the values he has kept throughout his entire life.
