As a forward-thinking leader, Dr. Farrah Sunderji's vision of eye health and eyecare led to the creation of a multidisciplinary integrated health centre in the heart of downtown Calgary. She empowers patients to improve their quality of life through vision and eye health, and strongly believes in service, love, kindness, and a strong community.

Farrah and her family are very passionate about giving back to the community in a variety of ways, such as collecting basic needs items for those in need. Farrah felt it was important to give back to her profession and created a journal club for women in optometry and ophthalmology. This initiative was designed to network and promote collaboration between like-minded female eyecare professionals. Every year, her practice participates with the local Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s Phone It Forward initiative. The program collects smartphone donations, which are set up with accessible applications, and are then given to people with sight loss. In the future, she hopes to help deliver eye-care to under-privileged individuals.

Farrah is an eye-care influencer, who has curated blogs and videos, which she posts on various social media platforms. Farrah frequently appears on several morning radio and TV programs discussing eye health topics. She has also published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and local magazines. She is a past president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists and is an active member of her professional college and association.

As a leader, her greatest learning during COVID has been resilience. Her advice to women is that you can be a leader, a professional, and a "mompreneur" without mom guilt, and excel in all the hats that you wear through self-love, self-care and gratitude. Life comes in ebbs and flows. Trust, have faith, and always believe in yourself.
