Arissa Roy is a 14-year-old activist and the founder of a global youth-led initiative: Project Power. Her mission is to help provide access to education for all, and believes that when we work towards creating an educated world, we collectively contribute to a peaceful and equitable society.
Arissa is an altruistic individual who finds purpose in social impact work. She has collaborated with many organizations, including the Malala Fund, Unsinkable Youth, Project Giveback, Plan International, and more. Moreover, Arissa uses social media platforms, such as YouTube, to spread the message of positivity and kindness.
Arissa strongly believes in the power of storytelling. Her personal story and unique experiences are her motivation, and she keeps them at the forefront of all her endeavours. Arissa's story dates back to 2017, when she visited a small school in the slums of Delhi, India. During this experience, she spent time with children her age and younger, who were marginalized due to poverty and inadequate education. She could not believe the conditions in which these individuals lived, and knew she wanted to dedicate her life to changing those circumstances.
Arissa teaches us that we cannot wait for the "right moment" to follow our dreams, because that moment is now. She shows us that age is just a number, and that making a difference in the world is something anyone can do. She inspires us to never give up because even the smallest of actions can create lasting change.
