Description

Menopause is a natural biological process and a regular part of aging. We invite everyone, of all ages, to attend this session where Dr. Zeeya Jamal and Dr. Hira Amir will highlight important facts and figures, focusing on the etiology. They will explore the natural changes in a woman’s physiology and share practical management options to consider during menopause.

Dr. Zeeya Jamal is a family physician with fellowships in emergency medicine and interventional pain management. She has a private practice in Ottawa and practices hospitalist medicine in Toronto and Ottawa. She is on the faculty of the University of Toronto, where she lectures in the post graduate medical education program.

Dr. Hira Amir is a physician trained from Pakistan, with post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is currently involved in research at McMaster University, and she is a physician assistant in Toronto. She is a manager of the Global Women and Child Health portfolio with the Aga Khan Health Board, Canada.

Moderator Salima Kerai-Sayani is a 2-year Ph.D. student at the School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia. She is currently working as a research assistant with Human Early Learning Partnership, and has a research interest in advancing human and child development and wellbeing. Salima has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Aga Khan University. She has worked as a Registered Nurse as well as a research coordinator with the Aga Khan University to study child health in impoverished communities in Karachi, Pakistan.
