Artist Bio (English):
I am a photographer and writer whose work explores the questions of identity, culture, community, racism, discrimination, Islamophobia, migration, belonging and home.
Inspired by storytelling in my work in the international development sector, I experiment with the use of art to educate and engage. My East African work focuses on representing the complexity and diversity of the oft-misrepresented continent.
In Canada, I focus on the immigrant experience. I am part of the Royal Bank of Canada’s (RBC) Emerging Visual Artists program, through which my exhibit Unbelonging in my Fatherland will be displayed in downtown Calgary.
