Economic Planning Board: Tax Clinic Intake Form

The Economic Planning Board (“EPB”) is an initiative of His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for Canada (“CFC”). The objective of the EPB is to deliver and collaborate on programming to participating individuals and families to foster economic empowerment. Programs include, amongst others, financial literacy, skills and employment, and the Ismaili Business Support Centre.
 
The EPB Program will be provided by EPB volunteers and staff (collectively “Providers”). As part of the EPB Program, Providers may also recommend and facilitate access to third party services and programs (“Third Party Services”) that could be of benefit to participating individuals.

Vacant Home Tax

Owners of properties in Toronto that are classified within the residential property tax class are required to declare the occupancy status of their property every year, even if they reside there. However, the tax does not apply to:
  • Properties that are the principal residence of the owner
  • Properties that are the principal residence of a permitted occupant or occupied by a tenant (including business tenants)
  • Properties that qualify for an exemption

The deadline to make a declaration of the property’s 2023 occupancy status has been extended to Friday, March 15.
