In the lead up to the event, visitors to City Hall had the opportunity to view an interactive exhibit drawing from artistic traditions across the Muslim world.
The event was attended by City of Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, members of City Council, and City of Burnaby staff, as well as representatives from several local Muslim organizations.
The event featured a recitation from the Holy Quran, a poetic recitation set to traditional Persian instruments, and a panel discussion on Ramadan, as well as addresses from several leaders within the City of Burnaby.
The celebration was a collaborative effort between the City of Burnaby, the Ismaili Council for BC, MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism, and Islamic Art of British Columbia.
