Mayoral By-Election Volunteering

Are you interested in the democratic process and in getting involved in political campaigns? Toronto’s Mayoral by-election is scheduled for Monday, June 26.  This will be the largest by-election in Canada’s history.  We encourage members of the Jamat to participate and consider volunteering in the campaign of their choice. Members of the Jamat will be connected with candidates who have requested the support of volunteers in areas where the Jamat resides. Elections offer a great opportunity to participate in a political campaign, build relationships and help shape your community. Volunteering with a candidate may include canvassing, office tasks, policy support or a senior role in a campaign office. In a previous recent provincial election, over 50 volunteers involved themselves in 20 campaigns. Their active involvement was not only an incredible learning opportunity, but gave them the chance to to policy development, meet candidates and foster new relationships.
