Secondary Curriculum - A Civilizational Approach to Study of Our Faith

May 26, 2020 | Canada

Having a civilizational approach is critical to the understanding of our faith. Islam is a faith comprising of people from many different cultures and civilizations. Although the core of our faith is rooted in Quran and teaching of Prophets, its interpretations have evolved and comes from multiple cultures and societies. Hence it is critical not to look at faith from monolithic perspective and allow the agency of human intellect to engage with faith. The Secondary curriculum published by the Institute of Ismaili Studies is centered around this approach and underpins the idea that faith is a spiritual experience that humans have in this physical world.
