ICYMI - National Youth Debate: Is Canada Tolerant and Inclusive?
Canada has been lauded as a pluralistic society that values and respects peoples of diverse cultures and ethnicities. Indeed, some would say this is but a notion and is not always practiced by Canadians, our leaders, authorities and politicians. Then, is Canada a tolerant and inclusive society?
The National Youth Debate, featuring secondary youth from across Canada and moderated by Faizal Khamisa, explored this question. Following the debate, special guest His Worship Naheed Nenshi, Mayor of Calgary, framed the debate in our current context and provided his perspectives on pluralism in Canada.
Aliyah Manji from the Prairies and Arqish Minhas from Ontario represented the proposition, while Rafeeq Kassam-Jiwani from British Columbia and Imaara Keshwani from Edmonton represented the opposition.
