Friday Night Reflections: Service as Fulfilment - Our Tradition of Seva

April 23, 2021 | Canada

During the past year, the need for volunteers and the sacrifices they have made have become even more apparent. While some volunteers delivered groceries and medicine to neighbours, others have helped to ensure Jamatkhanas are sanitized and safe, supported Jamati members through personal crises, helped murids find jobs, engaged seniors in telephone and online programs, and much, much more.

This evening on Friday Night Reflections, we will cap off National Volunteer Week with a special show honouring our volunteers. Host Salima Remtulla will be joined by the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honourable Janet Austin and the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, for an inspiring conversation on the meaning of service, its importance to us and our communities and how we can continue to stay motivated during these overwhelming times.

We will also hear from volunteers across the country about their experiences and what keeps them driven to volunteer their time and knowledge. Finally, new this week will be the Family Challenge game show where volunteers from the East will face off against the West to settle who is dominant in volunteer trivia.
