Friday Night Reflections: Treasures and Troves - The Beauty of Muslim Civilizations

March 26, 2021 | Canada

In 2014, the Aga Khan Museum officially opened, signalling a new chapter in the history of museums in North America as the first dedicated to the arts of Islamic civilizations. Its mandate, as articulated by Mawlana Hazar Imam, was to be a place of active inquiry and discussion, illustrating the true artistic diversity of Islamic civilizations and serving as a catalyst for mutual understanding and tolerance.

This week on Friday Night Reflections, host Rahim Ladhani sits down with Dr. Ulrike Al-Khamis, Interim Director and CEO of the Aga Khan Museum, to explore how the Museum has fared through the pandemic, what lies on the horizon, and how the Museum continues to offer new insights and perspectives that connects cultures and brings communities together.

We then journey through the Museum, with a guided tour of the newest exhibition, taking in a performance in the auditorium, and making a final stop at the Museum shop. This Friday, travel with us to Toronto to explore the treasures of the Museum from your very own home. And don't miss the quiz at the end to test your Museum knowledge!
