Re-Ignite Your Purpose: Conversations with Munira, Part 5 - Emotions: Getting Your Emotions to Work for You

Do you sometimes find that you get overwhelmed with strong emotions?  Do you get consumed by events and are unsure of what to do next? Join us for a session to learn more about the language of emotions and managing emotions to serve us well.

This is the fifth session in a six-part series on maximizing your potential, hosted by Munira Premji. Munira is a three-time cancer survivor, HR practitioner, and an accredited coach. Weaving her personal stories with professional best practices, Munira will discuss key concepts that are needed to define our purpose and bring our best self forward. This week, Munira will be in conversation with Leila Rahemtulla, an instructor, management consultant, and author.

Munira Premji is a Human Resources Practitioner, Accredited Coach, as well as a Training and Development Expert. She has more than 25 years of experience in retail, financial services, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in the public sector. Her superpower is supporting organizations in areas of leadership development, organizational effectiveness, talent planning, change, and culture.

Munira is a cancer warrior who battled 3 advanced cancers in a five-year period. She is the author of “Choosing Hope: 1 Woman. 3 Cancers”, previously listed by CBC as one of 40 works of Canadian nonfiction to watch for in the spring of 2020. She regularly shares her experiences on her blog and is the host of the podcast Choosing Hope: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things

Leila Rahemtulla has been an educator and management consultant for over 25 years. She currently teaches at Simon Fraser University and BCIT, with a focus on organizational behaviour, leadership, and instructor development. As a consultant, she works with public and private-sector organizations to help leaders and employees develop competency in leadership and soft skills. She is the author of: “Reignite the Passion in Your Work and Your Life”. Leila is an advocate for people with intellectual disabilities, and volunteers as a curriculum designer and facilitator for programs delivered to the Ismaili community, in both Canada and the US. In 2018, Leila was honoured with the YWCA’s Woman of Distinction Award in the areas of Education as well as Training and Development for her contributions to education and voluntary work within the community.
