Seniors Safety in the Home - Falls Prevention (Gujarati/Kutchi Edition)
Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations among older adults in Canada. Join Alwaeza Dr. Ashnoor Nagji, a family physician, and Neemira Abdulla, a physiotherapist, in a discussion in Gujarati and Kutchi, moderated by occupational therapist Aliya Satani. They will share information and preventative measures to keep you and your loved ones safe from falls. This will include simple balance and strengthening exercises.

Alwaeza Dr. Ashnoor Nagji is a family physician based in Vancouver, British Columbia, who works with vulnerable populations, delivering babies, and as a teacher. She was born in Tanzania, and has consulted, volunteered, and travelled to 116 countries. She founded and led BELIEF (Becoming Educated Leaders Inspired by Exemplary Females) – a platform for women and youth empowerment. Dr. Nagji has served as a TKN volunteer in Pakistan, Dubai, Tanzania, and as a volunteer physician in Afghanistan.
Neemira Abdulla is a physiotherapist residing in Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated from McGill University’s School of Physical and Occupational Therapy with a degree in physical therapy. Neemira has worked in various areas of physiotherapy, and her specialty is in the area of cardiorespiratory and critical care. She currently works in the ICU and COVID units at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, where she has played an integral role in the adaption of the Early Mobilization Protocol. She has assumed the role of Interim Clinical Resource Therapist for Cardiorespiratory and Chronic Diseases for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Neemira has been in various volunteer roles both in Canada and abroad, including TKN service at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, where she mentored and taught therapists
Aliya Satani graduated from McMaster University as an occupational therapist and has experience in mental health, dementia care, and stroke rehabilitation. She is currently working as a community-based occupational therapist with individuals that have been injured during motor vehicle accidents.
