The vision of the Aga Khan Health Board (AKHB) for Canada, is to make the Canadian Ismaili Jamat one of the healthiest in the world. Promoting the physical and mental health of the Jamat through education and other programs is an important strategy to reduce the long-term burden of ailments and chronic disease. The Medical Advisory Service (MAS) is a confidential service offered by physicians and other healthcare professionals who provide health-related information and help Jamati members navigate the health care system to access the resources and services they require. The AKHB also participates in international projects and engages Canadian health professionals for their advice and expertise.
The role of the Grants and Review Board (GRB) is to ensure institutional compliance with proper standards of financial discipline, accountability, cost and management effectiveness. It fulfills its mandate through funding reviews and financial audits, as well as periodic management and social audits.
