Elders’ Resource Corner | The Ismaili Canada

All Jamati Libraries now have an Elders’ Resource Corner. This Corner contains several brochures and pamphlets relating to various types of Government resources available in your local community, including accessing affordable housing and Government grants for house renovations. There are also several brochures available on various health related issues as well as BC Seniors’ Guide which has a wealth of information.

Government Services for Seniors

The BC Seniors’ Guide covers government programs and services. These include websites, phone lines, and service centres that can help you find the information you need. You can learn about useful resources like HealthLink BC and the new BC Health Service Locator App, ThinkHealth BC, and the SeniorsBC website. You can also find information in this section on specialized services, such as:

  • Support for grandparents raising grandchildren,
  • The Welcome BC website and Settlement and Integration Program, and
  • Foreign country (consular) services for newcomers and travelers.

Seniors BC Website
The Seniors BC website provides information on services and programs for seniors offered by the British Columbia and federal governments and nonprofit organizations. Included on the website are sections on health, finances, benefits, housing, transportation and more.

Seniors BC provides seniors, their families, caregivers, and supporting service organizations with access to reliable, consistent, and up-to-date information. The website includes online versions of this guide (the BC Seniors Guide) in English, French, Chinese and Punjabi. Your comments and suggestions for future updates are most welcome.

Visit Seniors BC regularly for up-to-date content, event announcements, and feature stories highlighting the achievements of older British Columbians. Seniors BC also includes healthy living tips, information on topics of importance to seniors, and instructions for subscribing to the SeniorsBC e-newsletter (sent by email).
