Becoming Stroke Smart - Your Health is Your Wealth
Did you know that about 9 in 10 Canadians have at least one risk factor for stroke? Cardiovascular diseases and events such as heart disease, high blood pressure, heart attacks, and stroke can be prevented by addressing and managing risk factors. It is important to detect cardiovascular disease as early as possible so that management with lifestyle changes, counselling, and/or medications can begin. This webinar’s focus is to understand the risk factors associated with stroke and how to reduce them, understanding early identification and treatment for stroke, and how to improve the quality of life of people living with stroke.
Join Dr. Jaskiran Brar, a Stroke Neurologist with the Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia to learn about strokes, and Dr. Sheila Lakhoo, a Lifestyle Medicine Expert and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto to learn about lifestyle changes for healthy living centred on the Five to Thrive pillars. Shabbir Dhalla will share his journey having experienced a heart attack and stroke, and Safina Allidina, a Health & Social Impact Leader and Mental Health Communications Lead for Aga Khan Health Board will be moderating the session.
