On Friday, February 9, a panel and networking session called "The Entrepreneur’s Journey" took place at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto.
 
The event featured the following speakers:
  • Nim Nadarajah - Managing Partner, CriticalMatrix & MatrixVentures
  • Leila Keshavjee - Founder & CEO, Happy Pops Inc.
  • Niaz Qurbanzada - President, TopVision Group
  • Atif Khedri - Owner, AK Fitness Studio
 
The panelists shared their entrepreneurial experiences, discussing the inception of their businesses, the motivations driving them, and the strategies they employed to overcome various unforeseen obstacles, inspiring the attendees and leaving them enriched.

A series of events in commemoration of International Women's Day will be held, with the first event ocurring on Sunday, March 3 at Meadowvale Jamatkhana from 1-4pm.

“Rise, Empower, Lead: Women Shaping Tomorrow” will be the first session of the day. The panel of speakers will include experts in the field of women’s empowerment who will delve into diverse dimensions of women in leadership. Panelists will illuminate the trajectories of their career launches, articulate strategies for life balance, and offer insights into navigating unforeseen challenges while finding inspiration along the way.

Pickering Tax Clinic Session

In-person and virtual tax clinic sessions are back for the 2023 Canada tax filing season. Facilitated through the Canada Revenue Agency's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, individuals with a modest income and a simple tax situation, can get assistance on their tax returns. If you qualify, please fill out the registration form at iicanada.org under the Economic & Financial Planning News Section. The in-person tax clinic session will be held at Pickering on Sunday, April 7. The last day to file your tax return is April 30.

The Aga Khan Economic Board is reaching out to gather and collect information on Ismaili Business Owners. 
 
After completion of this form, a member from the Economic Planning Board will connect with the business owner to learn more about their business, and to see if there are job opportunities for our Jamat. 
 
As part of our ongoing efforts to make this a mutually beneficial relationship, over the coming months, via our Future of Business Pillar, we will start to provide services and networking opportunities for Ismaili Business Owners.
