Professional and Business Alliances | The Ismaili Canada

“History shows many examples of how a community, working together, its members backing each other up, operating as a community, can develop an influence in excess of what would normally or otherwise have been possible.”
Prince Amyn, Ismaili Economic Conference, Dubai - April 26, 2008

Alliances of Ismaili business people and professionals in common areas of practice or industry in Canada and around the world have consistently shown great advantages and benefits to the alliance members including:

  • Reducing costs by bulk or joint buying.
  • Sharing important industry knowledge.
  • Developing a referral network.
  • Networking and job opportunities.
  • Improving their business competitiveness.
  • Joint marketing.
  • Establishing best practices.
  • Participating in joint charitable initiatives from the generated success.
  • Creating new combined business ideas with other alliance members.

Currently there are 38 alliances in Canada, each arranged by profession or business, and identified by their respective stages of progression from:

Conceptual -> Developing -> Active

A Conceptual Alliance is defined as:

  • An alliance idea with a interim champion.
  • A proposed value proposition for target members.

A Developing Alliance is defined by all of the above Conceptual Alliance criteria, and is:

  • An alliance that has a clear and permanent champion member.
  • An alliance that has met multiple times with a steering committee.
  • An alliance that has developed a clearly defined value proposition for members.

An Active Alliance is defined by all of the above Developing Alliance criteria, and is:

  • Structurally and operationally established.
  • Structurally established with a  governance system in place and structure that makes it an independent self functioning entity (e.g. a company, a society, a cooperative, etc).
  • Operationally generating one or more tangible benefits for its members (i.e. procurement opportunities, knowledge sharing, cross referrals, etc).

If you own or operate a business, or are a professional in any of the above alliance categories, or are otherwise interested in creating an alliance, please contact a member of our national alliance team. The list of members is included below.

In addition, an annual conference for alliances across Canada is organized to further the alliance ambitions and progression in Canada. For more information about this year's Alliance Canada Conference (ACC 2014) please visit www.allianceconference.ca.
