Alliances of Ismaili business people and professionals in common areas of practice or industry in Canada and around the world have consistently shown great advantages and benefits to the alliance members including:
- Reducing costs by bulk or joint buying.
- Sharing important industry knowledge.
- Developing a referral network.
- Networking and job opportunities.
- Improving their business competitiveness.
- Joint marketing.
- Establishing best practices.
- Participating in joint charitable initiatives from the generated success.
- Creating new combined business ideas with other alliance members.
Currently there are 38 alliances in Canada, each arranged by profession or business, and identified by their respective stages of progression from:
Conceptual -> Developing -> Active
A Conceptual Alliance is defined as:
- An alliance idea with a interim champion.
- A proposed value proposition for target members.
A Developing Alliance is defined by all of the above Conceptual Alliance criteria, and is:
- An alliance that has a clear and permanent champion member.
- An alliance that has met multiple times with a steering committee.
- An alliance that has developed a clearly defined value proposition for members.
An Active Alliance is defined by all of the above Developing Alliance criteria, and is:
- Structurally and operationally established.
- Structurally established with a governance system in place and structure that makes it an independent self functioning entity (e.g. a company, a society, a cooperative, etc).
- Operationally generating one or more tangible benefits for its members (i.e. procurement opportunities, knowledge sharing, cross referrals, etc).
