Registration Ongoing for Tax Clinics for the Jamat
Do you need help filing your 2019 tax return? The deadline for filing your taxes this year is Thursday, April 30, 2020. The Economic Planning Board of Ontario is pleased to offer qualified members of the Jamat assistance with their tax return preparation and filing.
Tax Clinics are provided to individuals and families that meet the following criteria and the indicated income threshold.
Schedule
Registration will be held at ALL Jamatkhanas. Please see your Jamati Economic Planning Board representative to book an appointment for the following clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:

Eligibility Requirements
Tax Clinics are restricted to individuals that fall into the following income categories:
Family Size | Total Family Income |

One person | $35,000 |
Two persons | $45,000 |
Three persons | $47,500 |
Four persons | $50,000 |
Five persons | $52,000 |
More than five persons | $52,000 + $2,500 for each additional individual |
Required information for EACH person requiring a tax return to be completed:
- A valid photo I.D. (driver’s license, passport, etc)
- Name, address, telephone number, Social Insurance Number, Date of Birth
- Property taxes paid or Rent Paid & Name of the Landlord
- If residing in a nursing home, a letter from the nursing home with the breakdown of the rent and other expenses
- Details of all places of residences in 2018
Required Supplementary Documentation:
- Copy of last year’s filed Tax Return
- Notice of Assessment
- T4 slips (including T4As)
- RRSP Contribution Receipts
- Charitable donation and contribution receipts
- T3 (investment income), and/or T5007
- T5 (interest income)
- Safety deposit box fees receipts/statements
- Medical Expense receipts
- Investment transactions Investment transactions (interest income must be less than $1,000; individuals who report capital gains or losses are not eligible)
- T2202A Tuition Certificate, if attending university or college. (Note: this will need to be printed from the university/college website as they are no longer mailed)
Returns cannot be prepared for:
- Individuals who have earned over $1,000 in interest income
- Individuals who report employment expenses
- Completing tax returns for deceased persons (i.e., final returns)
- Individuals who have filed for bankruptcy
- Self-employed individuals
- Individuals who report capital gains or losses
- Individuals who report business or rental income and expenses
- Non-residents of Canada

This link will take you to the booking page where you can choose a Jamatkhana and a time slot that fits your schedule. Please select one time slot per individual for which returns will be prepared. Couples will require two consecutive time slots under one registration.
