Navroz Celebrations at Generations Calgary
The festival of Navroz marks the beginning of a new year and first day of spring. At Generations Calgary celebrating Navroz this year means embracing diversity. This included their first Haft-seen (also spelt Sin), a decorative table arrangement of seven (Haft) items that start with the letter S (Seen/Sin). Traditionally, the items denoted the seven days of creation with each item symbolizing nature.
Mawlana Hazar Imam remarked in his convocation address at University of Alberta in Edmonton on June 9, 2009 “Pluralism means not only accepting, but embracing human difference. [Pluralism] sees the world’s variety as a blessing rather than a burden…”
Please enjoy the memories and video from Generations Calgary's Navroz celebrations as we look forward to the new year with renewed hope and joy.
