Celebration of Learning & Last Day of BUI!

The Bait-ul-Ilm year has officially come to an end, concluding with an amazing Celebration of Learning this past Saturday.  The Secondary Bait-ul-Ilm Department extends a sincere and heartfelt appreciation to all the students, who have worked very hard all year, committing themselves to attending classes on Saturdays, engaging with Bait-ul-Ilm activities both inside and outside of the classroom, grappling with student assessments, and finally, culminating their learning in the end of year Celebration of Learning.  Many of our students came out this past Saturday to participate in the event: the Grade 7/8s did a wonderful job engaging the community in a lively game of Muslim Society and Civilization Trivia; the Grade 9/10s then took the audience through a very comprehensive overview of the First Century of Islam with their self-created short-film; and our Al-Azhar student, showcased her documentary which explores the concept of faith.  We also had 3 very talented emcees from Grade 7/8 who practically ran the show - Sarra, Maira, and Summaya.  We also want to thank the parents who have supported their children and our Secondary Department with enthusiasm, positivity and a sense of commitment this year. Thank you for coming out on Saturday to celebrate the achievements of our students, and to show through your presence that Bait-ul-Ilm is valued and it matters!

Please enjoy the pictures, courtesy of Zahra Walji, who volunteered to take photos, without us asking - Thank you!

Wishing you all a lovely, enjoyable and safe summer.  Looking forward to seeing you all tanned and ready for another exciting Bait-ul-Ilm year in September!

And last but not least, wishing Nawaaz Makhani, a resident STEP Teacher in Ottawa for the past 6 years, all the best in his travels, as he will be leaving Ottawa to pursue other aspirations and interests outside of the STEP Programme.  We will miss you!
