Hurricane Lee Expected to Make Landfall on Saturday

September 15, 2023 | Quebec and Maritimes

Environment Canada is warning Maritimers to prepare for rain, heavy winds and storm surges when hurricane Lee makes its way to the region Saturday.

The storm is forecast to hit hardest in New Brunswick and the southwestern parts of Nova Scotia. Further east, the impact may be softened, but heavy downpours are still likely.

Maritimers should expect significant rainfall amounts and high winds. As well, since trees are in full foliage, strong winds could uproot trees leading to power outages across the regions closest to the track of the storm.

Remember to prepare for emergencies with an emergency kit and plan.

Jamati members requiring assistance are asked to contact the Access line or the local Jamati leadership.
