Grade 11 & 12 students are encouraged to register for a weekend retreat on Media, Representation & Identity. Building on the Encounters in Muslim History curriculum and the Ismaili Centres’ Cities of Arrival theme, the retreat will engage students in an analysis and production of media and representation. Students will be taught how to work with social media as a tool for thinking about issues facing people living in urban spaces both in the past and today.
Students will engage in hiking and other outdoor activities as well as participate in workshops on media analysis and social media, focusing on Twitter and Instagram. The Al-Azhar Graduation will be part of this retreat.
All participants and parents will be required to attend a meeting at a local Jamatkhana prior to the retreat to review details and guidelines.
Please note that financial assistance is available to those who require it. All requests and communications are kept strictly confidential; please contact Ontario.BUI@IICanada.org for more information or to submit a request.
