This week we commemorate the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The day is designed to promote respectful, accessible, and fair communities for all.

Join President Ameerally Kassim-Lakha for an update on recent COVID-related developments as well as host Natasha Walji of Google Canada, Dr. Jamil Jivraj and several special guests who discuss their own experiences, confront stereotypes and explore what role we can all play in creating more inclusive, caring and just communities.

We are pleased to be joined this week by President Ameerally Kassim-Lakha providing an update on recent developments and our collective response to the pandemic.

We also commemorate World Teachers’ Day by celebrating the educators in our Jamat at the heart of efforts to reimagine the future. Dr. Nadia Eboo Jamal, a historian at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, provides a glimpse into Mawlana Hazar Imam's vision for world-class, rigorous education about our faith, its values, and the vast civilizations it has inspired.

Host Asif-Aly Penwala, along with fellow STEP teachers Mezhgan Hakimy, Fatima Kaba and Fayyaz Ali, describe the calling to help shape future minds, the sources of their inspiration, and the opportunities they have been granted to work with Jamats around the world.

This evening, join ESPN anchor Nabil Karim as we explore arguably one of the most unifying and uplifting forces in our world today - sports.

In a wide-ranging and candid conversation, our all-star panel of sports figures discuss issues facing society and how sports can be a vehicle towards progress and strengthening community. Special guests include Sherali Najak, Senior Producer of Hockey Night in Canada, Faizal Khamisa, Sportsnet anchor, and Salimah Mussani, a professional golfer and coach.

A special feature also highlights inspiring stories from members of the Jamat who have competed at different levels and excelled at their sport. From the Afghanistan National Football team to the Paralympics in Beijing - these individuals have embraced their dreams.

The current pandemic has had a deep and lasting impact on citizens around the world, in many cases worsening existing inequities in both industrialized and developing nations.

Join President Ameerally Kassim-Lakha, Aga Khan University President Firoz Rasul, and host Sahar Ibrahim, as we take a glimpse into how AKU and the AKDN have been addressing some of these unique challenges and supporting some of the most vulnerable global populations.

The electronic Registration Drive closes on Sunday, June 7. It allows Jamati Institutions to better understand how to help you and your family.

Our aim is to: ensure the safety of the most vulnerable in the community, know how best to support you and what you need, and engage as many members of the Jamat as possible in our response. 

Please register ALL members of your household, including multi-faith family members. If you have family and loved ones who do not have Internet access, please help them complete this registration.
