Laval Jamatkhana

The Canadian Jamatkhana Development Fund will support the building of a new, landmark Jamatkhana in Laval, Quebec, the first purpose-built Jamatkhana in the province.

The new Laval Jamatkhana will be an exceptional addition to the architecture of the city and province. It will pay tribute to our rich history, while bringing forth inspiration for the future. In addition to prayer facilities, the building will house a multi-purpose social hall that will allow for outreach, arts, cultural, indoor sports and other youth-focused programs. The building will serve one of our youngest and rapidly growing Jamats in the country.

Please visit iicanada.org/laval for more information and to make a tax-deductible contribution.

Let your contribution, however large or small, help to build solid foundations for the Jamat in this country for the decades to come.

Friday Night Reflections: Connecting the Past, Looking to the Future

Date:
Friday, July 8, 2022
Time:
5:30pm PT | 8:30pm ET

On July 11th, 2022, the global Jamat will commemorate a rare milestone - Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 65th Imamat Day.

What is a legacy? What is a jubilee? What is their significance for the Ismaili Imamat, and why do we commemorate milestones of the Ismaili Imams?

In this special episode of Friday Night Reflections, Dr. Mahmoud Eboo, Representative of the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, helps us to pause and reflect on the significance of 65 years of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Imamat. Viewed through the lens of history, every undertaking and initiative of the Imamat can be recognized as a means of preparing the Jamat and the world for an ever-more-complex and daunting future. Join us as we explore why the observance of Imamat milestones are so pivotal in the life of the Imam and murid, how they have played such a critical role in getting us to where we are today, and why the cake and sherbet you have on Monday may mean a lot more than first appears.

Friday Night Reflections: Building Hope and Confidence, AKDN in Afghanistan

Date:
Friday, May 20, 2022
Time:

Over the past 40 years, the situation in Afghanistan has grown ever more complex. Amidst droughts and insecurity, the country has endured conflict and 30 years of civil war. Today, Afghanistan is in the throes of a humanitarian and economic crisis.

Shariff, CEO of Aga Khan Foundation Canada and Dr. Najmuddin Najm, CEO of Aga Khan Foundation Afghanistan. The two leaders sit down with host Kiran Hayat for a conversation exploring the situation in Afghanistan on the ground, the lifesaving impact of AKDN activities and efforts to address food insecurity, employment, health care, education and the status of women.

Of course, it would be impossible to recognize the impact of Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), without recognizing the leadership, generosity, and global-mindedness that the Jamat has demonstrated through the World Partnership Walk.

Join us in Jamatkhana tonight, Friday, May 20, for a special 35-minute in-person viewing event at 8:30 pm (local time).
