2014 World Partnership Walk

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any”
Alice Walker

Each one of us has the power to make a profound contribution to the world.  Aga Khan Foundation makes it even easier for us to have a big impact! 100% of donations goes directly to the work, and these funds are leveraged to gain the Canadian government’s support! In fact, the Canadian government just signed an agreement with the AKFC to invest $100 million into improving the lives of a million people in Asia and Africa. 75% of the investment is coming from the government, but the rest is up to us to fundraise!

As we move into the last stretch of this awesome campaign, we ask you to continue taking steps to making this year, our 30th Anniversary, the biggest Walk to date!  Keep pushing to exceed your fundraising goals and remind your donors what a great cause you are supporting.  Walk for education! Walk for health!  Walk for entrepreneurs! Walk for food security!

Take Steps to end Global Poverty! One step at a time.

2014 World Partnership Walk

Amongst the great common denominators of the human race is a shared aspiration – a common hope – for a better quality of life.” – Mawlana Hazar Imam

Of the few times that citizens of the world work together, one of the common goals that unites us is the aspiration to make the world around us a better place. In the year 2000, the World Bank set the Millennium Development Goals, in order to completely eliminate extreme global poverty, defined by the number of people living on less than $1.25 per day, by the year 2030. The good news is that we have done well so far! We have cut this number down by half, in less than half the timeline! But there is still a lot more to be done, and Canada can play a big part.

The World Partnership Walk, run by the Aga Khan Foundation Canada, is one of the ways that Canadians can take steps toward eliminating global poverty. This year, on our 30th Anniversary, it’s your chance to help take the Walk to the next level! Become an ambassador of the Walk and spread this message to fellow Canadians and let them know why we need their help.

The Aga Khan Foundation is completely non-denominational and supports long-term, sustainable programs in education, civil society, healthcare, and rural development. The unique thing about the Walk is that 100% of donations go directly towards the work. Additionally, the Canadian government is a strong partner of the AKFC’s projects and leverages this contribution! With all this great support, there’s no reason for Canadians not to get involved! Their dollar will go very far!

As Ambassadors of the Walk, you can spread the word by:

  • Talking to your  friends, neighbors, colleagues and co-workers about the Walk and the AKFC
  • Sharing videos and links from our website: www.worldpartnershipwalk.com
  • Asking friends to like our Facebook page to learn more: www.facebook.com/wpwalk
  • Inviting fellow Canadians to the Walk so they can see it in action!

2014 World Partnership Walk

Did you know that the Government of Canada and the Aga Khan Foundation Canada recently signed an agreement to invest $100 million dollars into improving the quality of life for more than a million people in Asia and Africa?

More than half of Canadians strongly believe that Global poverty is everyone’s responsibility; however many of them don’t know about the World Partnership Walk and the great solutions provided by AKFC. Let’s change that!

This year is the World Partnership Walk’s 30th anniversary; let’s use it as an opportunity to involve fellow Canadians in taking steps towards eliminating global poverty! Thanks to the incredible support that the AKFC has been able to leverage, 75% of the $100 million investment is coming from the Canadian government and the rest of it is up to us to fundraise. Here’s how you can help:

  • Start a team with your colleagues, classmates, family or friends.  Walking as a team is a wonderful way to have fun as a group and spend time with your community members.
  • You can also create a corporate team to have fun with colleagues while raising your company’s profile.

Reach out to all your social and professional networks and tell them about the Walk and why it’s so important for all Canadians to get involved! You’ll be surprised at how willing people are to help out – just let them know how!

Donation books can now be picked up at the Donor Services Desk or you can simply go to the Walk site to register at www.worldpartnershipwalk.com or check us out on facebook at www.facebook.com/wpwalk.
