World Partnership Walk: Step Forward for Education!

A strong education system is the foundation of a better future. But the opportunities provided by a quality education remain inaccessible to millions of children around the world, many of them girls.

This is why World Partnership Walk supports education programming that trains and equips teachers, enabling children around the world to fulfill their potential. These programs focus on improving education systems at the pre-primary and primary levels while strengthening women’s empowerment and gender equality in the wider community.

For example, funds raised by Walk supporters help improve the quality of education in East Africa, like the investments at Golini primary school in Kenya. These investments provide teachers with training to improve teaching techniques and approaches to ensure gender equality in their classrooms.

Register for the Walk today because together, we can continue to empower teachers, students, parents, and communities to build a better future.

Beekeeping for a Better Future

Patrice is a Kenyan entrepreneur who created a business that recycles plastics and rice husks and turns them into eco-friendly beehives for honey production. Patrice also works closely with farmers in her community, educating them on the importance of bees as pollinators and selling or loaning them durable, recycled hives.

Many woman entrepreneurs like Patrice face challenges, including a lack of social support and access to resources. Thanks to support from Canadians like you, Patrice received specialized training and mentorship, which helped her to build and grow a profitable business that benefits her community and the environment.

Your support for the World Partnership Walk helps make stories like Patrice's possible.

World Partnership Walk: Mother's Day Match

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Now is the perfect time to step forward with the World Partnership Walk in support of women and newborns around the world. This is also your chance to have your support go twice as far when you donate or fundraise this weekend.

Meet Mufida, the first and only midwife in her community, located 34 kilometres from Gilgit, Pakistan. Before she opened her clinic, there was no facility for pre-and postnatal care in her community in rural Pakistan. In this region of Pakistan, travelling to neighbouring towns can be challenging due to cost, lack of transportation options, and poor roads, as well as social norms that limit women's independence to travel alone. “When [pregnant women] faced complications, it was not possible to go to the city,” she says, adding that many pregnant women died due to a lack of medical care.

Thanks to support from Canadians like you, Mufida received midwifery training and equipment and was able to open a clinic to serve the women in her village. She now provides care for at least five antenatal mothers and assists in five deliveries every month.

This Mother’s Day, you can help support women and newborns in accessing necessary healthcare services by registering and fundraising for the Walk.

This year, thanks to a generous matching gift from an anonymous donor, the funds you raise for the Walk from May 10 to May 15 will have double the impact. *

Visit the World Partnership Walk website to register today! Together, we can make the world a brighter place for mothers everywhere.

Only donations made online using World Partnership Walk from Wednesday, May 10 to Monday, May 15, 2023, ending at 11:59pm PT │ 12:59 MT │ 2:59pm ET will be considered eligible, up to a maximum amount of $50,000. Funds raised will be added to your city’s fundraising total and not individual or team fundraising totals.
