World Partnership Walk

Have you Joined the movement yet?

Growing up in rural Mozambique is not like life in Canada. Meet Apendiwe, who grew up without learning to read or write. As a result, as an adult, she struggled to feed her children and send them to school. This is what the cycle of poverty does. According to the World Bank, more than half of the population of Mozambique lives below the poverty line.

But we have solutions. Thanks to support from World Partnership Walk through Aga Khan Foundation Canada, Apendiwe and her neighbours received basic training and opened a weaving workshop. Today they are turning their talents into a profitable business.

Apendiwe has earned and saved enough money to build a new home.

Be part of the movement and empower more individuals like Apendiwe to lift themselves out of poverty. Invite your friends, colleagues and neighbors to join you on Walk Day in your City on May 28 or June 4. Learn more and register today!

Create a better future by investing in early childhood education

Thanks to the support of thousands of Canadians through World Partnership Walk, Aga Khan Foundation Canada has been able to invest in early childhood education across East Africa.

In the past three years, over 340,000 children, teachers, school administrators, parents and community members in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda benefited from a five-year program to strengthen pre-primary and primary education systems. Through this program, 100 high quality early childhood development centres were established as centres of excellence.

This is a great start, but more investment is needed. Around the world more than 200 million children do not have the support they need to reach their best.

Join the 2017 World Partnership Walk and help us continue to invest in education for children around the world. Join the movement and register today!
