Salgirah Message from the Premier of Ontario

On the occasion of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 86th Salgirah, the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has issued a message to the Ismaili community in Ontario.

Salgirah Mubarak

Dear Jamat,

Ya Ali Madad.

On the occasion of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 86th Salgirah, we wish the entire Jamat a heartfelt Salgirah Mubarak!

This Salgirah is particularly joyful, as it brings the Jamat and multi-faith family members together in celebration after several years of limited in-person engagement. Please continue to keep yourself and your families safe by following guidance on COVID-19 booster and influenza vaccinations, paying attention to symptoms, and staying home when sick.

We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ismaili community in Canada. In 1972, Ismailis first established a significant presence in Canada, and have since continued to arrive from various countries around the world. Canada has welcomed the Jamat with immense warmth and generosity, and Jamati members have had the opportunity to develop roots in the peace and security of this new home, while significantly contributing to Canada’s rich cultural mosaic and civil society.

In September, as part of the launch of the 50th anniversary commemorations, we were very fortunate to host members of the Imamat family in Canada, as they represented Mawlana Hazar Imam. For this visit and the significant achievements celebrated, as well as the establishment of the Canadian Jamat, we offer humble shukrana to Mawlana Hazar Imam for his dedication and untiring efforts to improve the quality of life for Ismailis in Canada and all Canadians.

The Jamat’s unity and generosity of spirit and resources ensures the stability of both the local and global Jamat. The effects of climate change, economic variability, political instability, and physical and mental health continue to challenge all of us. The Canadian Jamat is anticipated to grow as we welcome more murids from various parts of the world. Let’s set ourselves up for future success. We encourage everyone to please continue to reach out for support or to offer your help via the Access Line, and prepare for a strong future through the Future Ready Initiative. To help inform Mawlana Hazar Imam and the Jamati Institutions on the status and needs of the Jamat, we humbly request every household to complete the 2022/23 Canadian Jamati Survey, which will launch on Tuesday, December 13. The few minutes it takes to complete this survey will help plan for the needs of the Jamat for years to come. Thank you for your support to help the Jamat continue to be strong and united in Canada.

Reflecting on the significance of the 86th Salgirah, it is through Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance and institutional endeavours that we have the courage and faith to overcome adversity and emerge into new situations with strength and confidence. His tireless efforts have enabled the Jamat to look ahead and plan for our futures with hope, faith, and optimism. For this, we are truly grateful.

During Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 80th birthday celebrations, he shared his vision for the Jamat’s success in the future:

"As we look ahead, the Jamat is likely to become more and more a global community…but the essence of the Jamat, the ethics of our faith, the principles which we believe in and which we seek to practice in our lives are the essence of how our community will stay united."

Salgirah Mubarak to each one of you – with prayers for peace, easing of all difficulties, and immense barakah.

Given the on-going respiratory virus risks, please stay home if you are unwell and continue taking appropriate precautions such as hand sanitizing and making where appropriate.

Special Imamat Day Message from the Premier of Ontario

Ontario Premier, Doug Ford, issued the following statement marking Imamat Day:

"I am pleased to extend warm greetings to our Ismaili Muslim community as you celebrate 65 years of spiritual leadership by His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV.

For over six decades, he has built a reputation as a global champion for cultural and religious diversity, peace, and a more just world that upholds the dignity of all people. His work to promote universal education, end global poverty, and foster harmony has left a lasting impact.

Over the past two years his teachings on compassion and selfless giving have inspired millions around the world. I want to take this opportunity to thank our Ismaili Muslim community here in Ontario for all they do to contribute to our province’s success story, and for stepping up during the COVID–19 pandemic and championing the true Ontario spirit.

Best wishes for a joyous celebration. Khushiali Mubarak!"

Eid al-Adha Mubarak from the Council for Ontario

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the Council for Ontario wishes the Jamat and all multi-faith family members a warm Eid Mubarak!

This week, alongside our sisters and brothers in Islam, we commemorate Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice.

On Eid al-Adha, we remember Hazrat Ibrahim’s sacrifice and unyielding devotion, and we also reflect upon the complete trust he had in his Creator. Each time we greet one another with “Eid Mubarak,” let us remember the important message of trust in Allah. Let us continue to strengthen that bond through devotion to our Imam-of-the-Time.

Imamat Day Ontario Leadership Message

On behalf of all Ontario Jamati institutions, Jamati and Majalis Mukhi Kamadia Sahebs and Mukhiani Kamadiani Sahebas, we wish you a heartfelt Imamat Day Mubarak. On July 11, along with Ismailis from all over the world, we will celebrate the 65th anniversary of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s accession to the throne of Imamat.

This Imamat Day, we celebrate 65 years of the Imam’s spiritual and material guidance. We express our gratitude for his tireless efforts, every day, to help ensure the safety and security of his Jamat around the world; for his contributions to humanity at large, towards building a more compassionate, equitable and understanding world; for motivating us to develop our true potential; and for lighting the path, for each one of us, to spiritual understanding. For all this, we are ever grateful.

Throughout history, our Ismaili community has experienced periods of peace and prosperity, but also episodes of challenge and turbulence. What has always remained constant has been the Imam of the time who has shone a guiding light in spiritual and material matters. In his Diwan, Nasir Khusraw writes “The bottom of the seas lies thick with jewels and pearls. Why do you keep running along the shore? Go, seek a diver”. Let us offer shukhrana for Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance, unconditional love and affection for the Jamat.

Imamat Day is also an opportunity for us to contemplate the ways we can convey our love for our Imam. We can re-affirm our allegiance, express our gratitude for ensuring the well-being of the Jamat around the world, and support each other and the community at large by living the principles of Islam. Today, let us pray for the strength to fulfill Mawlana Hazar Imam’s vision of a united Jamat.

We wish each and every one of you a joyful and fulfilling Imamat Day. May you, your families and your loved ones be blessed with immense barakah, good health, prosperity, peace, spiritual understanding and the alleviation of all your difficulties. Imamat Day Mubarak.
