​1. Inspectors in Public Health and Environmental Health and Occupational Health and Safety

What will you do?

  • Inspect the sanitary conditions of buildings; conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment to identify sources of pollution; collect samples of water for analysis; measure physical, biological and chemical workplace hazards; and conduct safety and environmental audits.

  • Restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals and other public facilities or institutions.                


What will you earn?

  • Average Entry-Level Salary: $ 20.00 per hour.
  • Medium Range: $ 35.00 per hour.
  • Higher Range: $60.00 per hour
  • Wages depend on job requirements and work conditions. They also vary between regions, for reasons such as location, labour agreements, and the availability of workers.

What do you need to enroll in this program?

As each institution differs in their pre-requisite requirements, please review the links provided above.

  • Applicants should be 18 years of age or older; a graduate of secondary school.
  • All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.
  • A bachelor's degree or college diploma in a discipline such as food science, environmental studies, chemistry or health and safety is usually required.
  • In some establishments, several years of related work experience and the completion of in-house training courses may substitute for formal education.
  • Public health inspectors employed outside Quebec require certification with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.  www.ciphi.ca/
     

2. Property Administrators

What will you do?

  • Property administrators perform administrative duties and co-ordinate activities related to the management and rental of investment property and real estate on behalf of property and strata property owners. They are employed by property, real estate and strata services management companies, property development companies and by government.

  • Average Entry-Level Salary: $11.00 per hour.
  • Medium Range: $ 23.00 per hour.
  • Higher Range: $38.00 per hour

  • All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency, including students educated in Canada. Intermediate to advanced English reading and comprehension skills are needed.

3. Welders and Related Machine Operators

What will you do?

  • Welders operate welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This unit group also includes machine operators who operate previously set up production welding, brazing and soldering equipment.


Where can you work?

  • Companies that manufacture structural steel and platework, boilers, heavy machinery, aircraft and ships and other metal products. Also employed by welding contractors and welding shops, or may be self-employed.


What will you earn?

  • Average Entry-Level Salary: $15.00 per hour.
  • Medium Range: $ 27.00 per hour.
  • Higher Range: $37.00 per hour
  • Wages depend on job requirements and work conditions. They also vary between regions for reasons such as location, labour agreements, and the availability of workers.
