Insiyah Dharsee, wanted her community to stay positive and get through the COVID-19 pandemic together. Inspired by BC Medical Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry’s signature message, she started painting: “Be Kind. Be Calm. Be Safe.” on rocks and handing them out.
She received donations, and soon reached her goal of $1,000, which she will use to buy games and puzzles for seniors at a local care home. “I want to bring a sparkle into the eyes of our seniors and make their dining room area a beautiful place for them to enjoy.”
Her rocks are at a heritage museum in Coquitlam, and she has a picture of Dr. Bonnie Henry with two of her rocks. The Mayor of Port Coquitlam sent out a Tweet about her inspirational rocks - he has one on his desk too!
Insiyah hopes that these rocks will remind people to look for the good, even amidst the chaos of the pandemic.
