Samira Walli is a confident woman who has never been afraid to follow her dreams. Her strength in faith, education, service to the community, and overall outlook on life has been inspiring to many.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a graduate degree in analytics from Queen's University, Samira had a successful career at RBC. She made the courageous decision to leave and start her own business in fashion, called “Designer Day to Night”, while still using her education in math and analytics to propel her business forward.
Despite her success, Samira has always made the effort to spend time with family and friends, while continuing to network and forge new friendships and business relationships. Her leadership and organizational skills make her an asset to every committee she has served, both within the Jamat and in the wider community. This includes IVC leadership, the Economic Planning Board, and being a speaker and mentor for girls as a representative of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
There are many challenges to starting a business, however, Samira's drive and passion have been constant. Our Imam has always reminded us that lifelong learning is integral to success, and watching Samira's progression over the course of a decade has been remarkable. She has demonstrated the interconnectedness of various fields, by pursuing an education in STEM and utilizing that knowledge to successfully pursue her passion in the arts.
