Exploring the Shift in Healthcare Delivery: A Case Study
Exploring the Shift in Healthcare Delivery: A Case Study
COVID-19 has exposed vulnerabilities in healthcare systems around both diagnostics and treatment globally. These vulnerabilities include a strong dependence on expensive diagnostic equipment (e.g. CAT scans and MRI) that are typically available only at hospital centres. From March 2020, COVID-19 caused outpatient volumes at most hospitals to drop significantly, leading some US healthcare providers to lay off qualified staff and even to declare insolvency. In Canada, COVID-19 has raised questions about how best to provide universal healthcare that includes not only managing the well-being of COVID-19 patients, but also cancer screenings to continue to save lives during a pandemic.
This seminar will discuss the need for and the emergence of advanced portable diagnostic imaging tools such as a world first dual energy portable X-ray that can be used within clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and even at home to enable resilient healthcare systems at a global level.
Tune in on Tuesday, August 11 at 5pm PT / 6pm MT / 8pm ET.
