(Inter)national Development Case Conference

This questionnaire will provide the organizing committee an understanding of the interest level that students have in participating in an (Inter)national Development Case Conference. Based on the feedback and level of interest we receive, details around dates and timing will be determined and shared with all those who have submitted the below form expressing interest in this program.

The (Inter)national Development Case Conference is a four-session program designed to engage students in addressing pertinent humanitarian challenges both at a national and international level. High school, first and second year university students will be placed in teams to analyse the issue, consider relevant organizations and stakeholders, and create innovative solutions to the problem described in the case study. Teams will put together their initiative over a period of six weeks, incorporating the knowledge and advice gained from sessions held once every two weeks by development professionals and academics on topics including but not limited to:

1. Introduction to development
2. Background information on the case and important considerations
3. Exposure to NGOs, government and grassroots organizations
4. Negotiation skills required when balancing various institutions and stakeholders
5. Including marginalized populations and being conscious of inequity and injustice
6. Critical views of development

During the final session, participants will present their initiatives and ideas to a panel of judges made up of experts that have presented and supported teams throughout the duration of the program. 

The four sessions will occur every two weeks, and will each be approximately 2-2.5 hours in length, taking a total of six weeks to complete. In between sessions, participants will be encouraged to work with their groups and will be supported by the professionals and the organizing team. Note that the entirety of this program will take place virtually.
