COVID-19 Recent Scams and Fraud

A high number of scams and fraud have been reported in the last few months, and the number has increased since the launch of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) on May 29.
The impact of COVID-19 fraud between March 6 and May 25:
- Canadian reports of COVID-19 fraud: 1005
- Canadian victims of COVID-19 fraud: 269
- Lost to COVID-19 fraud: $1.8M
According to the RCMP, only 5-10% of fraud is reported.
