Learn to Speak English

Do you want to learn to speak English? English is the most widely spoken language in Canada.

Whether you're a beginner or advanced learner, our engaging sessions will help you improve your English skills. Language skills can be learned and improved at any age. This knowledge will be useful for day-to-day activities such as going to the grocery store, or applying for a job. A solid foundation in the English language will help you with your daily life and career in Canada.

English classes are being offered at various Jamatkhanas for all age groups.

Learn to Speak English classes are as follows:

  • Virtual Classroom via Zoom on Thursdays at 6pm.
  • Tri-City Bait-ul Ilm Centre (Central Community Elementary School) on Saturdays at 12pm.
  • Fraser Valley Jamatkhana on Saturdays at 11:30am.
  • Tri-City Jamatkhana on Wednesdays at 8:30pm.
  • Nanaimo Jamatkhana on Saturdays at 7:30pm.

Additionally, for those able to commit to more frequent classes, English as a Second Language classes are held at the Ismaili Centre, Vancouver on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm.

Please register online for these classes.

English Practice Circles - informal drop-in conversation circles are also taking place at the following Jamatkhanas. No registration is required.

Drop-in and join us at:

  • Burnaby Lake Jamatkhana on Sundays at 7:30pm
  • Tri-City Jamatkhana on Tuesdays at 8:30pm
