Proficiency in the English language is essential to be able to access quality education, employment with higher earnings potential, or simply to communicate to perform daily tasks. However, attaining a proficient level of English language can be a challenging task.

Tutors are needed to assist Jamati members who need support to upgrade or complete their English language proficiency level. Post-secondary students are encouraged to sign-up for this very exciting volunteer opportunity, which promises to deliver measurable outcomes to improve the quality of life of Jamati members.

Tutor Role and Responsibilities:

  • Education degree is an asset, but not required.
  • Plan and deliver weekly tutoring support on-line (in person when permissible) to improve English language proficiency of the student. ESL resource materials will be provided.
  • Assist students to establish individual ESL goals and support to complete their desired proficiency level. The student should have had an assessment of their English language proficiency by an external agency.
