Extra Precautions for Vulnerable and Older Adults

November 24, 2020 | Canada

As COVID-19 rates continue to increase across the country, members of the Jamat who are older or more vulnerable to COVID-19 are reminded to take extra precautions.

This applies to those who are:

  • Age 60 or over
  • Have chronic conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, liver disease, stroke, dementia
  • May have compromised immune systems, including an underlying medical condition such as cancer, or taking medications which compromise the immune system such as chemotherapy

Please adhere strictly to the 2m physical distancing from those outside your household, wear an appropriately fitted mask when leaving the home, and practice frequent hand hygiene. In addition, please take these extra steps to limit your exposure wherever possible:

  • Order groceries online for delivery, or ask someone to shop for you
  • Consider meal delivery options if possible
  • Limit all trips to those which are essential

If you have a family member, friend or acquaintance that is vulnerable, consider reaching out to see how you can help. Let’s support each other through this crisis.
