Tahir Kanji’s seva journey started 15 years ago at the age of 5, when he signed up as a youth IVC volunteer.
In 2014, Tahir started to help with the Evening Recitation Program, and eventually started leading a Saturday call for the youth who were unable to make it to the classes on Tuesdays or Fridays.
That same year, Tahir started tutoring with the Aga Khan Education Board and also became a Youth Lieutenant with the IVC. He continued to serve in these capacities wholeheartedly for the next few years. This led to future opportunities, such as becoming a recitation teacher and a vice-lead with ITREB, as well as supporting the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board with their GED program to support newly settled Jamati members.
During the monumental Diamond Jubilee year he served as an eco-team lead as well as a youth lead.
Tahir also served on ITREB as a vice board member for Secondary BUI in the 2018-2019 term.
Most recently, Tahir was a co-lead for the first 4 months of the ACCESS line, prior to stepping away to resume his duties as an Associate Director for Youth and Young. He is currently the Associate Director of Support Services on the IVC Cabinet.
Tahir’s tenacity, selflessness and dedication to serving the Jamat is aspiring and inspiring. Thank you for all you do Tahir!
