Recap: Doors Open Toronto

May 29, 2024 | Toronto
Doors Open Toronto is an annual event that allows the public to explore some of the city’s most architecturally, historically, and culturally significant buildings. We had the privilege to open our doors to Torontonians, offering them an opportunity to experience the rich heritage and vibrant culture at the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre Toronto.

During Doors Open Toronto, the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre Toronto, welcomed approximately 2,400 visitors over the weekend. Both venues were buzzing with activity on Saturday May 25 and Sunday, May 26, providing a total of 12 hours for the public to explore and enjoy.

A dedicated team of volunteers ensured the smooth running of the event, with around 90 volunteers on Saturday and 50 on Sunday. These volunteers, part of various teams including Ismaili Centre, Toronto Tours, IV, Safety & Security, Parking, Facilities/Logistics, Exhibition, Project Management Office and Hospitality, played a crucial role in making the weekend a success.

On Saturday, there were 63 tours, accommodating around 950 attendees, while Sunday saw an even higher turnout with 92 tours and approximately 1,400 visitors. The weekend was a vibrant celebration of culture and community, highlighting the rich offerings of the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre, Toronto, engaging a diverse audience, and showing the community's eagerness to connect with art, history, and culture.
