A Special Message from Salim Bhanji, President of the Council for Ontario
The President of the Council for Ontario, Salim Bhanji would like to provide an update to the Jamat on the status of re-opening of Ontario Jamatkhanas. Over the past two months, 24 of the 27 Jamatkhanas have successfully re-opened, and continue to operate on the principle that the health and safety of the Jamat is parmount.
We would like to share an update on the status of the remaining 3 Jamatkhanas in Ontario:
St. Thomas Jamatkhana:
The facility that houses this Jamatkhana is currently unavailable due to ongoing renovations; therefore, re-opening plans remain on hold until further notice.
Downtown Jamatkhana:
The facility that houses Downtown Jamatkhana is a high-density mixed-use space, resulting in elevated risk levels, hence limiting our ability to safely re-open at this time. The situation is being closely monitored and re-opening plans remain on hold until further notice.
Windsor Jamatkhana:
Given the steady decline in COVID-19 infection rates in the Windsor-Essex County Public Health Unit regions, planning is now underway to re-open this Jamatkhana. Further details will be shared shortly.
In the interim, Jamati members who regularly attend these Jamatkhanas are encouraged to designate an alternate Jamatkhana on the registration system.
The health and safety of the Jamat is our primary concern, we thank you for your continued support and understanding.
