Friday Night Reflections: When You Light My Candle

July 9, 2021 | Canada

"Your Highness,…..The candle aflame symbolizes not only enlightenment but also the transmission of learning from one person to another. When I light my candle from the flame of yours, your light is not diminished. Just the opposite: the light from both our candles shines brighter on all around us."

The Right Honourable David Johnston

This evening, as we commemorate Mawlana Hazar Imam's 64th year of Imamat, we reflect on his role as our guiding light and as a beacon for all of humanity. In this special Imamat Day edition of Friday Night Reflections, host Omar Sachedina sits down with the Right Honourable David Johnston, the 28th Governor General of Canada, for a wide-ranging conversation exploring how Mawlana Hazar Imam has impacted him personally and how Mawlana Hazar Imam continues to light the path towards a more peaceful and pluralist world.

President Kassim-Lakha joins us to share Khushiali Mubarak greetings on behalf of the Canadian Institutional Leadership.

We are also joined by Alwaez Dr. Karim Damji, who will reflect how our Jamat has been able to navigate many challenges and emerge as a resilient community, through the leadership and guidance of the Imam-of-the-Time.

And don't miss the world premiere of K4's newest single, Anytime, a special musical expression for Imamat Day.
