FOCUS Canada: Are You Prepared with a Family Emergency Plan?

May 24, 2024 | Canada

Natural and man-made disasters will continue to impact the Jamat and it is important we continue to prepare for unexpected events such as floods, wildfires, power outages, and winter storms. They strike without warning and can cause extensive physical and financial damage. As climate changes occur more drastically each year, disasters such as floods and forest fires are occurring in Canada more often than ever before. In the event of an unexpected natural disaster, are you prepared with a Family Emergency Plan?

Given the speed and unpredictability of natural disasters, evacuation may be necessary to ensure you and your family are safe. Invest the time to create a comprehensive Family Emergency Plan, and take time to review the Plan at least once a year with your family to make any required updates.

Here are some components your Family Emergency Plan should include:

  • Safe exits
  • Safe meeting places
  • In-town and out-of-town contacts
  • Health and insurance information

By being well informed and ensuring your family knows what to do during an emergency can make the situation less stressful and more manageable.

Complete this Crossword Puzzle to give you an idea of the things you and your family need to think of in order to better prepare yourselves for an emergency.
