For the last 15 years Alykhan Velji’s boutique design firm has brought an energetic flavour to the Canadian design scene. Known as a master of mixing design styles, patterns and textures, he loves to add a hint of the unexpected to each of his projects—ensuring that each design is personalized, goes beyond current trends, and stands the test of time.
Serving both residential and commercial clients, Aly is also a familiar face in the Canadian television industry, appearing on shows including “Designer Superstar Challenge,” “The Style Dept,” “My RONA Home” and is a resident design expert on “The Marilyn Denis Show.” He has also been featured in several national and international publications (Architectural Digest India, Dezeen, Rue Magazine, Lonny Magazine, House and Home, WL, The Globe and Mail, Style at Home and Canadian Living). Aly has received numerous awards for his designs, most recently being shortlisted for WL Magazine’s Designer of the Year 2021, named top 10 in the Wolf/SubZero kitchen design competitions in Western Canada and WL Home of the Year for 2020.
Aly has also gone on to design a rug collection called AFERA (2014), a collection of furniture made with reclaimed wood called SALVAGE (2016), launched a capsule furniture collection with Canadian furniture company Mobilia called Modern India (2019), currently has a wallpaper collection out with Canada’s Roll Out, and has an upcoming furniture collection being released with Urban Barn.
His belief that good design should be accessible to all has proved to be his motto and goes into everything that he creates. His interiors are approachable, comfortable, and inviting without lacking style.
