Attend a Pluralism mind mapping session on Monday, December 25 at Mississauga Jamatkhana after Jamati ceremonies, where you can brainstorm ways to practice pluralism, look at the mind map, unpack the concepts of culture, diversity and pluralism.

REGISTER BY TONIGHT FOR BERP 2018

Tonight is the last night to register for the 2018 Burial Expense Relief Plan. Please ensure elderly family members are registered. After tonight, Jamati members will only be able to register at the Council for Ontario offices or directly with Mukhi/Kamadia sahebs. Starting January 1, 2018, registrations will incur a 30-day waiting period and a $10 administrative fee per person.

Minimize funeral expenses upon the death of a loved one. Please ensure you and your entire family including elderly family members are registered for this annual initiative. We are at a 75% participation rate. Let's achieve 100% participation for the 2018 Plan year.

Volunteer with the Repairs and Maintenance Team

Jamati members interested in volunteering with the Jamatkhana repairs and maintenance teams are asked to send their CV to ontariojkrm@iicanada.net by Sunday, December 31 for the following roles:

  • Repairs and maintenance projects (construction contractors, skilled trades and project managers required)
  • Subject matter experts (including built environment, engineering and design)
  • Finance (with property management or construction experience)

Commitment can range from 15 hours per month and up. Hours served can count towards the Ismaili CIVIC150 pledge or TKN niyats (if already registered).

 

The following Council-appointed positions are in progress, please approach your local Mukhi / Kamadia sahebs by Sunday, December 24 to state your interest so that your name can be put forward:

  • Facility Managers & Assistant Facility Managers (building operator background or construction background preferred)
  • Sector Managers (overseeing 3-4 Jamatkhanas, property management or construction/engineering management background preferred)

2018 Burial Expense Relief Plan Campaign

The Jamat is reminded that the 2018 Burial Expense Relief Plan Campaign ends on Sunday, December 17. Once the campaign ends, registrations will have to be made at the Council for Ontario East York office between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be subject to a 30-day waiting period and an administration fee of $10.00 per person.

The registration cost is $60 for individuals over 21 years and $25 for individuals 21 years and under. Family members of other faiths living in the same household as a registered Ismaili member are encouraged to participate in the plan again this year. Only registered participants are eligible to receive funeral expenses.

Jamati members are encouraged to ensure that their elderly family members are registered for the plan so that in the event of a death, the family is not left with a bill that can exceed $7,000.

All, including multi-faith families, are encouraged to participate.
