General Resources
  • 211 Ontario - An essential service that helps Ontarians find the right resource or service for whatever issue they need help with, at the right time. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text and chat. The service is free, confidential and available in multiple languages over the phone.
Health Resources
Physical, emotional, cognitive, and mental well-being. Resources to prepare for support and services that may be required in the future to ensure a healthy future.

 

  • Connex Ontario - Center for addiction and mental health for Ontario, information on addiction and mental health services according to the client’s geographical location.

 

  • Dental Care - Information on how to access free, routine dental care for eligible seniors 65 years or older. The program is designed to support low-income seniors.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Health Care in Ontario - Information about OHIP, mental health/addictions support, senior care, vaccines, cancer care/testing/prevention, clinics and health care centres.

 

 

  • Lakeridge Health - Offers some of the broadest and most comprehensive range of acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care services in Ontario.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Telehealth - Connect with a registered nurse day or night for free, secure and confidential health advice.

 

  • Smoking Cessation - Treatment resources, tips, and counselling/support groups to help quit smoking.

 

 

Home Resources
The ability to age in place in one’s own home and community, and to make changes to the home to support one’s needs as they age.

 

  • Assistive Devices Program (ADP) - Learn how you can get help paying for equipment and supplies through the Assistive Devices Program. ADP covers 75% of the cost of the equipment & supplies.

 

 

 

 

  • Ontario Renovates Program - offers federal/provincial funding for lower-income seniors and persons with disabilities who own a home in the City of Toronto and wish to make health or safety repairs or accessibility modifications to their homes.

 

  • Ontario Senior Services - Independent Canadian-owned home care agency serving the Niagara Region whose goal is to provide seniors with multiple options to remain independent in their homes.

 

 

 

Transportation Resources
Access to and modes of transportation to consider as one ages.
  • Circle of Care - iRide - Government-subsidized transportation services helping older adults or those with mobility issues get around safely.

 

 

 

  • Red Cross - Provides transportation service for those in need, such as elderly or disabled in the community, who are unable to use public transportation or private means.

 

  • Seniors: Get Around - Information on driver’s licences, driving and transportation services, accessible parking permits and veteran graphic licence plates.

 

  • Sprint Senior Care - Offers accessible transportation services that respond to seniors’ individualized needs, are safe and affordable, and help clients to continue to reside at home while participating in the community.

 

  • Toronto Ride - Providing assisted door-to-door transportation services in the Toronto-area to seniors 55+ and adults with disabilities who are not eligible for Wheel-Trans.

 

  • Wheel Trans - Provides a safe and reliable transportation option for persons with disabilities.
Finance Resources
State of one’s finances and sources of income as they age. Resources to help make legal and financial decisions, financial planners, allowing someone else legal authority to manage one’s finances, etc.

 

  • Ontario Dental Plan (Low Income Seniors) - Learn how to access free, routine dental care for eligible seniors 65 years or older, through the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program. The program is designed to support low-income seniors.

 

 

  • Retirement Planning - Help you decide what type of lifestyle you'd like to have, how much you need to save and how to manage your money after you stop working.

 

Social Resources
Resources to help support one’s social life as they get older and contribute to general well-being and quality of life allowing seniors to live in security, enjoy good health and continue to participate fully in society.
  • A Friendly Voice - A free, confidential “warm line” for older Ontarians, 55+ who just want to chat with a friendly person who cares, without expectations or judgment.

 

  • Caregiver Resources - Resources for caregivers, including information on things such as tax credits and employment benefits.

 

  • Red Cross - A wide range of support services to provide help seniors who stay in their homes.

 

  • Growing Older - Resources to answer financial questions for Older Canadians (aged 50 plus).

 

 

 

  • Ontario Caregiver Organization - Helpline for caregivers in Ontario who need support services or information for themselves or for the person in their care. Available 24/7.

 

  • Ontario Jobs & Volunteering - Resource and supports to help connect job seekers with employers. Help you build your skills, find a job and plan your career. Find full-time or part-time job opportunities anywhere in Ontario — or across Canada.

 

  • Ontario Seniors Games Association - Ontarians 55+ can join in friendly local competition with the opportunity to progress to Provincial and National competitions in the sport or activity of your choice!
