Sophia Hassanali - social media influencer & content creator

Sophia Hassanali was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia.  She is a 41 year old wife and mother of two children aged 7 and 10. She is also an elementary school teacher with the Coquitlam school district. 

In 2018 Sophia’s love for baking bespoke cakes and cupcakes became a successful side business. She started her Instagram page @onesweetpiece to promote her new business. Sophia would bake in the evenings and weekends for clients and was busier than ever running her one woman show. Through social media Sophia would share how she created her orders. She would post beautiful pictures and videos of her creations and also fun how-to videos all from her home kitchen. As Sophia’s page and popularity grew her audience became more and more interested in her daily life – how she designed and decorated her home, where she was travelling, what she was wearing, and even ideas for kids activities. 

In 2019, Sophia decided to make a shift. She realized that her passion for fashion and sharing her everyday finds was being well received by her audience. Posting daily outfit inspirations, sharing seasonal fashion trends, and sharing home decor and local events was all becoming the norm on her socials. One of Sophia’s signature posts involved taking closet staple pieces (like a pair of white runners or denim jacket) and showing her audience how to style it multiple ways. Through her love for fashion and finding the best local places to shop, brands and companies (small and large) turn to Sophia to create engaging and beautiful advertisements. Sophia values supporting smaller, female and minority owned businesses and encourages size inclusivity in her shares. 

Sophia continues to run and manage her own social media. With the help of her supportive husband she is able to juggle a career in education, raise her two beautiful children, and get creative and break out into the world of social media influencing. 

Sophia was VancouverMom.ca's winner of the "Top Mom blogger" in 2018, and online lifestyle magazine VITA's "Canadian Influencer of the Month" in November 2020.
