World Partnership Walk: Thank You for Your Support

The entire World Partnership Walk (WPW) team thanks the fundraisers, volunteers, donors, and sponsors who made the 40th campaign a success. From National Walks to the many local Walks across the country, your enthusiasm and commitment have been nothing short of inspiring.

With your support, the Walk has raised over $4 million so far! Your hard work and unwavering dedication have made this achievement possible. These funds will play a vital role in empowering communities in Africa and Asia to create a brighter future.

While Walk Week may have ended, our journey is far from over. There are still many ways to support World Partnership movement, including continuing to fundraise or donating throughout the year and participating in World Partnership Golf events, which are just around the corner!

Approximately 14,500 people participated in the walk. Of these, 3,480 were registered participants.

Walks took place in six cities - Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Regina and Ottawa. In addition, multiple self-organized walks were held, including Niagara Falls community walks. The WPW Founding Women attended Walk Days in Toronto and Vancouver.

Programs supported by the Walk include Foundations for Education and Empwerment and Broadening Economic & Social Transformation.

Foundations for Education and Empowerment   

The Foundations for Education and Empowerment initiative aims to improve educational systems at the pre-primary and primary level, in addition to strengthening women’s empowerment and gender equality. The program will address the gender, social, cultural, and economic barriers that women and girls face in accessing education, making life decisions, and improving their equitable learning outcomes as key steps to exercising their basic human rights. 

The program will: 

• Strengthen the delivery of quality, gender-responsive, and inclusive pre-primary and primary education, and other social development services. 
• Reduce gender and social barriers to the utilization and uptake of education and other sustainable development services. 
• Engage international and Canadian stakeholders in gender-sensitive and evidence-based research, dialogue, and development programming.

Location: Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda 

Broadening Economic & Social Transformation for Women’s Economic Empowerment & Recovery (BEST4WEER) 

BEST4WEER aims to improve women’s social and economic empowerment during the process of COVID-19 recovery and rebuilding in Gilgit-Baltistan province and the Chitral district in Pakistan. Using a whole community approach by engaging traditional leaders, families, market actors, employers, civil society, government members, and elected officials, the program will create an enabling environment for women’s empowerment and agency during COVID-19 recovery.
